Review of Wish I Was Here (2014) by Omar M — 18 Jul 2014
This was a very sweet and touching movie. Out of the three movies I saw this weekend, this is the most surprising when it comes to its low rating. It is funny, it has some parts that brings you near to tears, and it's just a nice ride.
I guess it all depends if you like Zach Braff and like how much of a goof ball he is. Kate Hudson, who I love deeply but doesn't pick good movies to be in except for Nine and Almost Famous, was very good in this compared to her other work.
Yes it's one of those "Of course the director would cast a total babe as his wife" just like how Jon Favreau did with Sofia Vergara in "Chef", but it's something you can look over.
Josh Gad has a nice role as well and Mandy Patinkin, do I need to say more. The little boy, Pierce Gagnon, was someone I absolutely fell in love with in "Looper" and this movie proves he is one to be looking out for as a powerhouse rising star.
If you want a heart warming movie to watch this weekend, this is it. I can't say Sex Tape or The Purge 2 could do the same.
