Review of Wish I Was Here (2014) by Amilcar A — 19 Jul 2014
I'm not entirely sure why I've always hated Zach Braff. Maybe his face? Maybe that idiotic TV show he used to be in? Not sure but I think I hate him until I watch his movies and he's OK.
Wish I Was Here is a drama about family, disappointment and finding your calling in life. It's a very family friendly story with some funny moments, a couple of sad ones and Kate Hudson looking more radiant than ever before. That woman is a remarkable beauty.
What this movie isn't is interesting. It's just a passing by film that will be mostly ignored since it's rather trivial, not controversial and it's lacking any punch.
I appreciate the fact the movie was Kickstarted and that the Braff's pulled putting it together from scratch. However I would have added some X-Men or some Transformers or at least some porn to make it more interesting.
Not terrible, better than I expected but as safe as white bread.
