Review of Wish I Was Here (2014) by Katie B — 21 Sep 2014
Zach Braff's sophomore effort is heartfelt but also very flawed. Gorgeously shot on anamorphic film with a good soundtrack too. Elevated but strong performances from the whole cast especially Kate Hudson who gives her best performance since Almost Famous.
Unfortunately it's all brought down by a weak script that is very self-indulgent and rather shallow. It's still manages to be enjoyable and heartfelt but never seems to grasp what it is aiming for.
