Review of Wish I Was Here (2014) by Sol C — 19 Jul 2014
Congrats to Zach Braff. He does a great job both acting and directing wise here. I thought this was a better film, than Garden State. I could sympathize and relate to Zach's character in the film. I loved the songs that are in the film.
The film is well casted. Kate Hudson is really good here and has a great on screen chemistry with Zach. Mandy Patinkin is wonderful here play Zach's dying father in the film. Josh Gad is funny and touching as Zach's brother in the film. Joey King and Pierce Gagnon are great as Zach's kids. I loved the Scrubs reunion in the film, with Donald Faison's cameo appearance in the film. Jim Parsons was hilarious in his minor role in the film.
The only thing that I didn't like with the film, has nothing to do with the film itself. It was that Zach got the financing through kickstarter. Kickstarter and Indiegogo should be for up and coming independent filmmakers that are trying to raise the financing for their films and not for people who are already famous and established in the business.
I definitely recommend this film.
