Review of Wish I Was Here (2014) by Le Anne L — 15 Aug 2014
Similar to Garden State, much of the movie deals with death, but instead of Braff's character reacting to the recent death of his mother, it's the impending death of his father, as Gabe's cancer has returned.
A quick review of Zach Braff's Wiki bio seems to indicate that both his actual parents are still living, so perhaps he feels by delving into their deaths in movies, it'll better prepare him for the eventual loss?
