Trade Hudson for Portman and you have Garden State the sequel. Struggling actor trying to figure out life. Im not complaining though. Braff has a way of taking life situations, romanticising them, and has you leave the theatre learning a life lesson.

Sure, other film artists do this, but I think it's the way Braff picks the soundtrack that elivates his films the most. A good song, at the right time, can weighten a scene or lighten it up. Sure, im a sucker for indie music, so I might be giving extra praise here, but everything comes together almost perfectly.

Every characters negative qualities get redeemed in the final act. Obviously in life everything doesnt work out for everyone, but dont we all want to have that kind of hope? This movie offers that kind of hope, never give up on your dreams, but dont be afraid to alter them when needed.

Like Braffs character, who wants to be an actor but ends up an acting teacher. Know that life has multiple possibilities for you.
