"Wish I Was Here" is full of tender moments, noteworthy quotes, and heartfelt performances from the entire cast. However, I think it's hampered by the fact that Braff lays on the pathos a little too much.
Films can be depressing and sentimental, but if they're not balanced by being engaging or entertaining, it can make the viewing experience feel more like a chore than a journey. Fans of Garden State (like me) will probably find themselves a little let down by Braff's follow up.
