Review of Wise Blood (1979) by Keith E — 21 Aug 2009
I should probably wait to rate this movie, as I can't decide yet whether I really liked it or not. Dourif was good, as was Stanton and Beatty. But the movie ended up a bit stilted and stale for me while I still couldn't take my eyes of it.
The martyrdom and potential redemption was a bit reprehensible to my sensibilities and I'm not sure the movie made a convincing case of it. Of course hearing all the sound clips that were pulled years later for "Jesus Built My Hotrod" was fun, but a bit distracting.
Three stars for now as I don't think it was a great movie, but I can't get it out of my head.
