Review of Winter's Tale (2014) by Shane B — 14 Feb 2014
C'mon Critics! 10%...Its not that bad. Its merely meant to be interpreted as a figurative tale full of allegory and metaphors, I just think it got away from the director a bit. I think the dramatis personae were all very solid, especially Russel Crowe.
Funnily, I think thats the best Ive seen Crowe for quite a time. In criticism, there were too many ideas going on at once without any sort of heirachy. If I give it a shot of decrypting - well its a tale of the interconnectedness of the human species where love, goodness in one lifetime can be timeless and still exist for many lifetimes, like a butterfly effect and outside influences, such as religion, tries to subvert that course when pure connectedness to the planet, pure love is the one true way.
I think the movie was intended to be very ambiguous in meaning , almost like a blank canvas where the viewer can paint himself into the film to give it meaning - I'd use the old adage - ''Its not bad, just different''.
