Review of Winter's Tale (2014) by Patti M — 15 Feb 2014
This movie will be loved by anyone who still believes in love, in miracles, in faith, and in hope. It is not for the cynical or the "doomed". If you can suspend your intellect for a slight moment and remember how you believed as a child, you will find this to be a beautiful, touching, uplifting movie.
This is Shakespeare and Dickens; it is not Tom Clancey and Philip Roth. What seems sophomoric to many critics, is truly the magic of the movie. It is child-like imagination and hope. It is classic struggle of good and evil, which will be lost on many in our "gray" society.
The movie can be salve for the hurting, longing soul if you can leave the details of life behind for a moment and embrace love and faith as reality beyond what our minds can fathom.
