Review of Winter's Tale (2014) by Sam S — 17 Feb 2014
Where is the mystery and fantasy about life and the world? Is there no imagination left? If I listened to the critics here, I would have missed an excellent film. A contrast in good and evil, light and dark, this is a lovely film about the timelessness of love and it possibilities.
If you can not follow the story line, it is because your pre-conceived notions got in the way of following the flow of the film. It is beautifully filmed with an excellent cast. Nothing blows up on a regular basis.
Although there are confrontations with darkness. But does blowing up stuff add to a good storyline. If you think the villains (personified by Russell Crowe and Will Smith) are acting over the top, you should read the book.
Pearly Soames is an over the top lunatic. Each of the cast met my expectation of the characters. I am very glad that I went to see this film. It reinforced the notion that true love never dies.
