Review of Winter's Tale (2014) by Sarah S — 18 Feb 2014
This movie was...confusing. The supernatural elements weren't given time to properly develop. I think if I had read the book, it would've made a bit more sense. Russell Crowe has a horrid, completely inexplicable, Irish accent.
He's definitely miscast here, as is his commander, the Prince of Darkness (no spoilers, but I literally laughed out loud at what should've been an intense scene). That being said, Colin Farrell and Jessica Brown Findlay have fantastic chemistry and a beautiful love story.
It wasn't the romantic period piece I was anticipated, but I shed more than a few tears before the credits rolled.
