Review of Winter's Tale (2014) by Toren P — 09 Mar 2014
When it comes to making "movie magic", as in, taking fantasy elements and incorporating them into heartfelt moments, it's an art how some filmmakers can truly create a masterpiece of a love story with mysticism and beauty.
.. and then movies like this are created. Wow, they dropped the ball on this thing. Now, this is screenwriter Akiva Goldsman's first movie as a director. The studio is quick to mention that Goldsman won an oscar for writing A Beautiful Mind, but his resume includes more bad films than good.
The characters were uninteresting, the visuals felt hammed up, as pretty as they were, and you'll be trying not to laugh at how ridiculous this movie can be without much humor whatsoever. I really don't recommend this movie at all.
I've seen Hallmark cards with more inspiring messages.
