Review of Winter's Tale (2014) by Lee D — 24 Jul 2014

I was kind of intrigued by the trailers for this movie because of the magical elements it seemed to have but not interested enough to go see it in theaters. while I didn't necessarily like the movie I can't really say I hated it either.

it had some gorgeous cinematography and a decent(although confusing and poorly paced) story but ultimately it fell short. now I will say, though, that the movie shines in two places. Russell Crowes performance and a surprising unexpected and well done performance from Will Smith (who I had no idea was even in this til he just showed up midway into it).

I won't give anything away about their characters but they play them well and were enjoyable to watch. so all in all I'd say if you want to try this one out, go for it but try it at a Redbox first since it's cheaper.

not really a memorable film but enough good in it to keep it out of the cinematic trash heap.
