Review of Winter's Tale (2014) by Paxton A — 05 Jan 2015
Advance Screening. You will wonder whether you've become too cynical and questioning, or if the movie just is that horrible. Unintentional comedy WISHES it were this film, if only because it had a budget, actors, and the crayons with which this script was written - crayons which, incidentally, could have gone toward drawing better special effects.
If you've ever wanted to see Russell Crowe pretend that he wasn't a respected actor, then look no further than your local theater, specifically, the alleyway behind it, where you'll find starving cats more menacing (and with better Irish accents) than Pearly Gates - yes, that is the name of a character in a work of fiction now, because writing allegory is hard.
That, of course, is just preaching to a choir full of Will Smiths the many faces of whom decided to take on the challenging role of Lucifer, also known as the Fresh Prince of Darkness. The film's ads remind you that Colin Farrell was in "Total Recall", because it's no longer the worst film he's starred in.
.. in the last five years.
