Review of Winter's Bone (2010) by Kimberly B — 25 Mar 2012
In the end, not much happens in this film. So, the plot was a little weak. Also, the setting and the general story are both quite depressing (though there is a bit of redemption at the end). This is the side of crushing poverty we see less often in films & tv: rural, Appalachian white trash poverty.
Still, I would say this is a good film. The acting is good; cinematography is pretty. Story is involving, despite its general lack of complexity. My husband & I give it a thumbs up.
