Review of Winter Passing (2006) by Ty H — 11 Jan 2008
I don't know why, but I didn't expect the movie to be the gloomfest it was, which didn't make it bad, just surprising.
Deschanel's character is basically completely unlikeable at the start. riddled with insecurity, self-loathing, and cruelty. after quite a some time - too long - you grow to like her as she grows to like herself and her situation.
Will Ferrell, as we all now know, is a champ at subtle humor as well as the outlandish variety.
Ed Harris was brilliant actually, but what else is new?
Overall it wasn't a bad movie, but something was missing. perhaps it was that I had about zero care for Zooey, the main character, until way into the film. Ed Harris and Ferrell alone are worth a watch.
By the way, I have a purely sexual crush on Zooey Deschanel's voice. I would make love to her voice if I could.
