Review of Winter Passing (2006) by Wendy O — 09 Oct 2006
6/10.
I was really unimpressed with this one. It kept alot in and only slowly let the audience in on what was going on. When we finally do figure out what has happened and what our protaganist is going through it's unengaging and the payoff is anti-climatic. I must commend writer/director Adam Rapp, however, for attempting such a slowpaced film; if only the characters were more nuanced, the script more ambitious. I also applaud his daring and successful inclusion of Will Ferrell in the cast; if anything, watch this film to for a good laugh thanks to Ferrell.
Ed Harris and Farrel are great as usual but Zooey Deschanel should stick to quasi-folk music as her acting was so bad it was distracting, probably my main gripe about the film (it's too bad cause she's so cute).
