Review of Winter on Fire: Ukraine's Fight for Freedom (2015) by Linus M — 11 Jan 2016
Unflinching, heartbreaking inquiry into the early catalyst stages of Ukraine's Civil War. Would have liked to see a couple interviews from the other side. While surely anyone will agree that 125-190 dead at the hands of the Berkut is outrageous and demands acknowledgment and accountability, its never that simple.
What are the lives and stories behind the faces of the Berkut officers, and how did they end up in those positions? Or maybe they tried to interview them but were refused by Berkut members. Any case, everyone should watch this to see the full extent (past the media stories) of Yanukovych's corrupt regime and the dumbed down low cunning of the Berkut.
This is medieval level shit.
