Review of Winter Light (1963) by Justin A — 16 Aug 2009
Bergman is a master at getting under your skin and pulling apart layers of your brain. What "Winter Light" does in 80 minutes is really quite unforgettable. Every question the Pastor in crisis faces is not only something the character attempts to decipher, but as a viewer you're trying to figure out your own position in a world riddled with questions concerning religion.
Does the world revolve around coincidence's when it comes down to answered prayers? Or is it truly God that notices your amount of anguish and rewards you with making the situation better?
