Review of Winnie the Pooh (2011) by Matthew M — 16 Feb 2012
It's all fleeting, whimsical, child-like fantasy, but that doesn't mean it's simply for children - even adults will be enthralled by the tentative, fantastical and completely traditional take on Winnie the Pooh and his friends, and, although nothing really happens in the short running time, you'll feel like you've just had your heart strings tugged and your funny bone tickled for hours.
It's so warm, so friendly, so innocent, that it gets hard to resist its charm; the animation is rich, the voice-acting superb and the self-reflexivity of the film its selling point. You want to know what the best film of last year was? You're looking at one of the highest contenders.
