Review of Wings of Desire (1987) by Nancy T — 16 Nov 2009
Wenders' direction is solid, and I particularly liked the way that he captured the isolated existence of the angels. However, I felt that a significant portion of this film seemed sort of scatterbrained when it was trying to be poetic.
The single biggest problem for me with "Wings of Desire" is that I simply don't see the great "love" that's supposed to have developed between the angel and the trapeze artist.
I'm expected to believe that he was willing to give up immortality for her, and I don't understand why he would.
