Review of Wings of Desire (1987) by Aldo P — 09 Apr 2009
An often overlooked masterpiece, IMO one of the most complete pieces of cinema ever made. Surprised the hell out of me particularly with the brilliant cameo by Peter Falk playing himself playing Columbo and serving as a counsellor to Ganz's fallen angel.
Couldn't bring myself to watch the American remake with Nic Cage, they managed to rip the heart out of Nikita despite being experienced in violent action flicks so what they'd manage to do with such a delicate and subtle film is not something I want to know.
