Review of Wings of Desire (1987) by Vieras E — 01 Nov 2009

Very....different. It takes some patience, but it does enough things differently that it warrants watching. That said, it's not exactly a thrill a minute. You have to be patient and willing to try something different, or you're sure to hate it. Even then, I wouldn't say it's technically so amazing....it didn't flow very well. It's good to experiment, but doing so rarely results in the best technical achievement. Still...pretty good, overall.

If you want a more standard movie that's frankly not as good, it was remade as City of Angels in the '90s. If you want a movie that actually captures a unique perspective on what an angel might be like after a few millennia of watching over mankind, this is the one to go for.
