Not an easy film to get into, but once one has come over the slowness and contemplative way to tell the story (though it is mostly a non-narrative movie), the words of Peter Handke (especially his beautiful poem "Als das Kind Kind war.
..") combined with the wonderful photography of Wenders start to kick in, backed up by the great (nearly exclusively) miming performance of Bruno Ganz and Otto Sander, the delicately ironic acting of Peter Falk, the gracious presence of Solveig Dommartin and the dark gloomy performance of Nick Cave and his Bad Seeds (among which Blixa Bargeld.
..) in their Berlin days... Berlin being probably the star of it all...
