Review of Wings of Desire (1987) by Lilian W — 02 Sep 2010
Re-watching this film made me appreciate it even more, both technically and emotionally. Loved the smooth shift from the sepia-toned monochrome to the colors, the camera movement, the storytelling technique, topped with brilliant performances from all the cast with no exceptions.
I tried a lot to explain to the people I know why I love Berlin so much and this film demonstrates why; unlike any other city in Europe, Berlin is a city that is not ashamed of its past; it hold its wound open for everyone to see, and most importantly, for Angels to observe.
