Review of Wings of Desire (1987) by Mjs M — 12 Apr 2008

I?ve been hearing great things about this movie for a very long time and only now have gotten around to seeing it. Because of all the things I?d heard I had very high expectations, unfortunately the movie was a disappointment to me.

I could see a lot of good here; the technical aspects of the film were amazing and the way color was mixed with sepia-toned black and white was brilliant. I got the basic gist of the story, but I?ve got to say I really just didn?t get the film?s ultimate message, its point was lost on me but I was confused for a lot of the films duration.

None of the characters interested me at all, I understand that the angels are supposed to be a bit bland in nature but the fact remains that they didn?t interest me. The whole thing just struck me as rather cold, and worst of all I found a lot of t rather boring.

I did see a lot of interesting ideas on the screen and I want to give it another chance somewhere down the line before I make a final judgment; but I did not enjoy watching the film this time.
