Review of Wings (1966) by Colleen C — 20 Dec 2009
I have to say that this was much better than I was expecting. It's a film driven by special effects, but it's forgivable because they have aged well (I can't imagine how amazing this must have been to moviegoers in 1927).
In some ways, the effects then are more impressive than the CGI of today. For the close up aerial shots, both of the male leads took the plane into the air, turned on the camera in front of them, acted, and then landed the plane.
I find that pretty impressive. Plus, I'm fairly certain Shia Labeouf wouldn't be able to pull that off.
