Review of Winged Migration (2001) by Mel V — 11 Dec 2003
Yet another major disappointment in a series of movie disappointments over the last month. I could barely hang on for the entire ninety minute length. After solid reviews, and a strong recommendation by a female friend who saw Winged Migration twice in a movie theater, I was expecting something along the lines of Baraka (a non-narrative connected by themes and ideas).
Instead, the movie was a random collection of scenes of migratory birds, mostly different species of geese, most live, some die, but I remained indifferent. The experience was worsened by occasional, portentious (and pretentious) voiceover narration by an unseen Frenchman, and an obvious, manipulative score.
Strong visuals, but nothing more.
Most definitely, :rotten: .
