Review of Wing Chun (1994) by Jon M — 18 Jun 2012
Possibly Michelle Yeoh's best film, certainly her best wuxia film. Having not seen it in a long time, however, I forgot how much of the plot is driven by wacky misunderstandings, which knocks this away from the 5 stars it should be.
Yuen Woo-Ping's choreography is unparalleled, though, and the early sequence in the film in which Wing Chun defends a brick of tofu from an idiot bandit may be one of the best fight sequences in Hong Kong cinema.
Highly recommended.
