Review of Windtalkers (2002) by Peter N — 11 Aug 2012
It's difficult to create a truly memorable war film among all the others that are out there. Telling the story of the Navajo code talkers actually seems like a great way to create a unique World War II epic.
Unfortunately, the film barely focuses on their contributions to the allied forces. The fact that Nicolas Cage's image takes up the majority of the poster should tell you something. The whole thing is really about him, and the film falls into the same category as all those other cliche war movies that fail to bring anything new to the table.
As a guy, I find the action to be entertaining and there are some adrenaline pumping scenes thanks to John Woo's directing skills. Everything else is pretty forgettable.
