Review of Windtalkers (2002) by Scott A — 11 May 2013
This movie wasn't as good as I remembered it. Sure the action scenes are great, and maybe a tad to brutal at times, but I think it loses something near the end of the film. Beach isn't all that great in this and when he goes on his crazy trip in the last act, it really ends the film on a sour note. Plus that's around the time Cage starts freaking out too.
The supporting cast is quite good with Mark Ruffalo and Christian Slater being the standouts.
The Noah Emmerich racist cliche was just too much at times. And the score at times sounded like it came from a low rent SyFy original movie.
It's not awful, but when it isn't the big, loud war scenes, it can get far too heavy handed.
