Great acting with Renner garnering an academy award nomination. You felt that he really was a fish and game officer. Most of us enjoy the vengeance angle of a wronged father but this film goes deeper showing the grief that parents feel with the loss of a child.
It also reflects on the lack of awareness of the plights of minority women in general.
