Review of Wind River (2017) by Robby K — 03 Sep 2017
Writer Taylor Sheridan finishes his unofficial trilogy ("Sicario" and "Hell or High Water") with the same care and quality he established with the first two. This time he sits in the directors chair along with the writing, and for the most part he succeeds.
Its setting encapsulates the cold so well that you're likely to get a chill just watching it, and its lead performances are outstanding particularly Elizabeth Olsen. There are a few glaring flaws like the final confrontation lacking a "Big moment feel", and some odd qualities to Jeremy Renner's character, but overall the Cinematography and story keep you invested the entire time.
