Review of Wind River (2017) by Sanjaya B — 26 Sep 2017
"Wolves don't kill unlucky deer, they kill the weakest".
Wind River is a movie about revealing a murder by an FBI agent with the help of local hunter. The plot is totally simple and straightforward, local hunter found a body, then an FBI agent come. They try to track the killer and found some lead. This is where it gets interesting since the movie plays the flashback of what happened before the murder, so there's no element of surprise regarding the killer.
Jeremy Renner gave out a strong performance, even not one of his best, while Elizabeth Olsen already proved that she is undoubtedly the most talented Olsen sisters. There's also a scene stealing performance from James Jordan who plays Pete IMHO.
Directed by Taylor Sheridan, Academy Awards nominated screenwriter for Hell or High Water, Wind River is a slow paced but straightforward movie about murder. Two more thing that I love is how Taylor cast some natives or at least look-alike to play native Americans and the quotes from this movie.
