Review of Wind River (2017) by Greg M — 15 Dec 2017
Pretentious drama in which the white folks are the heroes and the Native Americans are victims or props. The FBI character-of all people-is depicted as young, pretty, vulnerable, in need of rescue. The FBI?!? (They probably contributed money to this film as part of their image tcampaign).
One major plot point is totally absurd, an almost arbitrary insertion of a scene in the middle of the climax, something of which only the audience is aware, giving us omnicience, seeing a flashback to which no living character can attest. Whose memory is this other than characters who are already dead? And the living characters hsve no way of knowing that this actually happened. It is as if, in hindsight, the screenwriter/director knew a motivation needed to be added because the original plot couldn't stand on its own.
