Review of Wind Chill (2007) by Kenny S — 09 Nov 2009
Being trapped in the middle of a winter storm is intrinsically scary -- I was raised in North Dakota, so I know how subzero temperatures can be easily fatal. As such, I was kind of intrigued by the movie's premise, and the first thirty minutes were definitely promising: two college kids stranded in the middle of the mountains, with little hope to be saved by an incoming vehicle.
However, once the creepy, supernatural things start happening, the movie descends quickly into horror cliches. Nothing particularly compelling happens in the last half of the movie. As such, it leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth because it squandered so much potential.
The two actors do an excellent job, but they couldn't really save a bad script. Probably not worth your time.
