Review of Winchester '73 (1950) by Paul J — 23 Jun 2011
Another fine pairing of Mann and Stewart. Simple yet ingenious premise. Whizzes by like a bullet. Extremely tight, done to perfection. The gun represents honor and Stewart's character is a great role-model for young viewers at the time.
The film is also a testament to classical storytelling. All you need is a few great set pieces and a very human relationship at the core.
