An unexpected pleasure. Giamatti and Ryan deliver exceptional naturalistic performances, and it takes us in unexpected directions while we think we're going to find traditional results. The supporting cast is uniformly great as well, with Burt Young and Melanie Lynskey (who is lightyears away from her role in Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures) as standouts.
