Review of Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! (2004) by Luke S — 27 Oct 2010

This was the wife's pick for our Wednesday night movie marathon, but it actually wasn't too bad. I'm a fan of Topher Grace so that definitely helped h'aving him in the flick. Anyways, the story revolves around three friends named Rosalee, Kathy and Pete, who live in a small town in West Virginia.

Pete has secretly pined for Rosalee almost his entire life, so he finds it sickening when all Rosie and Kat (the girls' nicknames) do all day long is pine after Hollywood's biggest star, Tad Hamilton.

Pete's nightmare gets even worse however, when Rosie enters an online contest to win a date with Tad Hamilton! Tad's recent bad boy antics have given his reputation a hit and as a result he is having difficulties landing movie roles.

In an effort to improve Tad's image, his managers come up with the online date contest idea, with all the proceeds going to charity. To Pete's absolute horror Rosie wins the contest and has a great date with Tad in Los Angeles! However, when Tad shows up to see her again once she gets back home to West Virginia, that's when things get really interesting! Pete finally has to reveal his true feelings to Rosie and fight hard to win her love from Tad.

This movie wasn't outstanding, but it definitely was original. It didn't have the normal Hollywood comedy feel to it, it had kind of an independent vibe. There were some slow parts, but there were also some good laughs to be had.

I really liked Angelica, the bartender character. This isn't a must see, but if you've got nothing else in mind this one will definitely do in a pinch!
