Review of Wimbledon (2004) by Thomas P — 05 May 2008
Exactly what you would have expected. Nice people, lovely English countryside and stereotypes, seeming mismatch couple, quirky sideshows and a grand-slam finale. This wouldn't be so bad but for the lack of sugar-coating.
Sam Neill is given a useless role. The parents of Bettany are quite realistic and there's an inevitable appearance from the tiny James McAvoy. The central couple do their best but prove to be no Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore.
Jon Favreau has a go at a character but there's plenty more room to fill. Still, this is nice to watch and Pat Cash was the tennis coach, which make decent scenes.
