Review of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) by Matthew D — 15 Sep 2012

Lavish sets galore in this imaginative adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic book. Undoubtedly outdated, this is one of the few cases that the remake of a film is better than the original film. Great performances from Gene Wilder, who's eccentric chocolatier charms and also slightly scares, Julie Dawn Cole is an obnoxious brat who's better to be dead, Jack Albertson, is undeniably funny as Grandpa Joe and Peter Ostrum, who is very cute in his only film role to date.

Not the best film out there, but a lovely watch with your family.
