Review of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) by Jonathan A — 07 Oct 2012
A classic film that works as a well-scripted musical/comedy. Gene Wilder is simply awesome as Willy Wonka, and the set-pieces throughout the factory are always a treat to look at (because you know it's all real and not animated like in the remake).
Thankfully the film doesn't drag along as well, it keeps a steady, but confident, pace that moves from one musical number to the next. It's scrumdiddlyumptious.
