Review of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) by Amy N — 27 Dec 2012
A warm and nostalgic adaptation of Roald Dahl's book. Gene Wilder delivers a brilliant performance as Willy Wonka, while the rest of the cast is at the top of its game as well. The magical surprise here is the fantastic songs on display.
A musical would not have been my first thought for adapting Roald Dahl's novel, yet it works tremendously. The musical score is breathtaking and one of the main reasons to watch this classic.
