Review of Willow Creek (2013) by David T — 20 Oct 2014
An extremely uninspired and non-engaging found footage outing from Bobcat Goldthwait. You know a found footage movie is total crap when someone who adores the subgenre writes it off as a complete Blair Witch ripoff, with less than half the tension and no action whatsoever.
And that is exactly what I think about this mind-numbingly boring and uninspired slice of tripe. The only reason I gave it a generous two stars is because of the surprisingly not-detestable lead actors.
But seriously, without giving anything away, and to give you some idea of what you're in store for if you do decide to sit through this, over 1/4 of this movie consists of one single shot of the couple sitting in a tent listening to snapping twigs and grunting noises.
It could have been an intensely creepy scene, if had gone on, say 3 minutes, instead of 23. It's all just a bunch of mindless, regurgitated hooey, with an ending so ridiculously benign that I actually stood up, flipped my television the bird, and said "F*ck you, Bobcat Goldthwait.
" And you'll most likely do something of a similar nature, too.
