Review of Willow (1988) by Lorne L — 16 Jul 2011
Rousing fantasy adventure in which a young dwarven farmer (Warwick Davis) finds himself charged with protecting a baby girl who will bring about the downfall of the evil queen that rules the land. Teaming up with a roguish swordsman (Val Kilmer), Willow finds himself having to find both the courage and magic within to save the day.
Based on a story from George Lucas and directed by Ron Howard, Willow is a fun and charming adventure, with Davis and Kilmer having great chemistry together as they bicker and battle their way through a well realized fantasy world.
Because it was made on the cusp of the digital revolution, some of the then- cutting edge special effects have dated, but the film still retains its ample charm.
