A little slow, but more likely patiently laid out tale. Not 100% sure about the love interest casting, but boy can those rats and wranglers did a great job,making the animals - without whom this film is pointless - really perform to effect. CGI seems to have been used with restraint, saving the "frothing" effect of LOTR's mass scenes.
Can't envision another actor more suited for this role.
