Review of Willard (2003) by Aaron W — 06 Nov 2003
Willard (2003).
Crispin Glover, R. Lee Ermey, Laura Harring.
Directed by Glen Morgan.
110 min (?).
Grade B+ (Fresh) (8).
Willard is the story of boy and his rats, a very interesting mix of black comedy, and creepy horror. Glover is excellent is this role, and adds an almost timeless quality to it. There is some nice subtle commentary for the USA, if you deal with rats, prepare to be hurt. The art direction is excellent, the old house is absolutely creepy, and there is some comedy (the opening credits). The CGI is sloppy at times.
