Review of Wilde (1997) by Darren H — 24 Jul 2010
Sweet and heartbreaking. Stephen Fry delivers an extraordinary performance as the legendary Oscar Wilde. Superb dialog and screenwriting define this film as one of the best homosexual films out there. The characters are real in every way.
A few particular scenes of sensuality are explicit, however, it does not dominate the film as is shouldn't. Instead, the theme revolves around truth, love, struggle as well as wit. It is a wonderful film about Wilde's extraordinary wit and individualism that we read in his works to this day.
