Review of Wild Wild West (1999) by Jonny Jeremias S — 04 Nov 2011
"Hang him!".
Ahh, 1999, a fine year, a fine year indeed. Many a good movie came out that year, this one is one of them. Now, I have seen it before, but if I recall correctly, I won't mind seeing it again.
...and I did not mind at all. 12 year old and still it is as good today as it was back then. Maybe even better. Maybe it's like a good wine, the more it ages, the better it gets. Probably not though.
The props used in this movie is something you can look forward to if you haven't seen this movie yet. The clothes, the guns, the inventions....etc. That was really something.
Now, I am a man who loves a good pun, so, you can imagine how much I loved this movie. Also I love a good comedy, and a good action-flick, and this movie hits all them targets. Plus there is also a lot of other factors that make this movie great. For example: Attractive women, gadgets of all sorts, cross-dressers, broads with guns, rivalry, bad guys, good guys, smart guys, dumb guys, big guys, small guys, other guys, tarantulas, flying metal blades, sexual tension, water tower, feelings, past, present and future. You know, the usual.
Will Smith did an excellent job in this movie, but so did Kevin Kline. Superb! But there is someone who did a better job than any of the great actors and that is the writers, Jim and John Thomas. They did a really good job writing this story. How do they come up with this stuff?!! That is some imagination and creativity! I mean, just to think of those colorful characters! And to mix those two together, brilliancy!
So for my final thoughts. This is a Must-see movie and I give it 8 out of 10 stars. This is the greatest Modern-western-action-comedy I have ever seen, it may well be the only one, but, you get my point.
Bon Soir!
